I am passionate about sharing with you the many benefits of yoga that I have discovered...

Yoga and great food are two of my passions. I also have been intrigued with health and wellness for years. The more I learn, the more intrigued I become, especially with the mind/body connection. This has led me on a quest for knowledge which has included studying massage, yoga, holistic nutrition, ayurveda, aromatherapy, and healthy cooking.

I have struggled with my weight since I was a child, but now realize the importance of eating healthy to lose weight...
I went on my first diet in junior high school and have spent many years on the diet roller coaster. I have lost and gained the same ten to thirty pounds dozens and dozens of times and have tried all the popular diets—Atkins, South Beach, Weight Watchers, Body for Life, Fat Flush, Schwarzbein, Sommersize, Rosedale, and on and on. Again and again I would gain back the weight and be forced to start over.

Eventually I discovered the many benefits of yoga and began to take control of my own health and wellness...
More than ten years ago, my life and health were out of control. I was working in a very stressful job that had me traveling 2-3 weeks every month.

My diet was unhealthy and I suffered from borderline high blood pressure and tension headaches. I was addicted to coffee and refined carbs. I developed severe chronic back pain and sciatica that was excruciating.

When physical therapy failed to help, I turned to yoga and began to feel better. After my first class I felt a little better and within several months was virtually pain free. I experienced first-hand many benefits of yoga and felt that continuing its practice would change my life. I have been a dedicated yoga student and practitioner ever since.

Through yoga, my life was transformed on many levels...
In addition to helping cure my back pain, yoga guided me in many other areas of my life. I began to eat healthy and lost more than thirty pounds, my blood pressure normalized, and the tension headaches disappeared. I felt calm and balanced most of the time, more patient and centered in my life. I was so inspired that I decided to change careers. I now want to share with others the health benefits of yoga and how to eat healthy to lose weight.

I received certification as both a yoga instructor and massage therapist. I love sharing all that I have learned about combining yoga with healthy eating—especially with beginners, baby boomers, and seniors. I have been teaching private one—on—one, small group, and community based yoga sessions since 2005.

The journey continues...
Because I have always loved food and cooking, my exploration in these areas has continued as well. I have attended recreational cooking classes throughout the US and in France and Italy. I am drawn to the Mediterranean philosophy of enjoying high quality, fresh food in season, focusing on whole grains, fruits and veggies, with small amounts of lean protein. The more I eat in accordance with this philosophy the better I feel. I am also continuing my studies in the areas of whole foods nutrition and nourishment education.

I think that Hippocrates was right when he said, "Let food be your medicine."
